Flip Flops

My daughter's b'day cake.

Chocolate Domingo cake filled with praline mousseline and frosted with chocolate mousseline. I made the beach towel, the bikini, the straps for the flip flops and the tiny flowers out of gumpaste. The starfish is mousseline. The water is piping gel that I coloured blue. The sand is vanilla cookie crumbs. The rest are candies except the flotie in the water which is a toy.

  2. Rozanne,
That is one of the cutest birthday cakes ever!
Flip Flops, looks like you might have started a trend. Have you work long with gumpaste and is it hard to do?
    Thanks for sharing.

Gumpaste is not difficult to work with. You just need lots of practice.

  5. Happy birthday to your daughter! What a wonderful cake!! Sounds delicious, too, I also love the Domingo paired with nuts and/or caramel!

The beach blanket looks so perfect. Did you carve the flip flops from sheet cakes? I'm in awe of your skills, R!

  6. Thank you Julie. I baked a 9x13 cake and used a template (which I made) to cut out the flip flops.
