Chocolate Lattice Band

I made this cake for one of my husband's friends. It was for his birthday. It was a 6" chocolate cake (from the wedding cake section of The Cake Bible).

  4. Just lovely, Rozanne, really beautiful! And the curls are wonderful, too. I don't know how you feel, but I actually find the curls to be harder than the band.

What did you use for frosting, buttercream or ganache?

  5. Very beautiful Rozanne. I love the whole look. So perfect. How did you make the curls?

  6. Thank you everybody for all your kind words :)

Julie, I agree. The band is so much easier to make compared to the curls. I used Bill's buttercream for the frosting.

Jenn, I used TCB method to make the curls

  10. That looks beautiful and uber-chocolatey. Yum! The lattice work reminds me of my very first cake baked from The Cake Bible. I have it posted on my blog. Check it out, when you get a chance: http://hanaaskitchen.blogspot.com/2009/10/heavenly-cake-baker-new-baking-group.html.
